Maya buddhism

Vanligen syftar det på sinnevärldens universum som skapats av brahman, vilket upplevs som bestående av en stor mängd separata ting. Though the Buddha was Hindu (or Vedic pre-Hindu, or whatever you would call that), I've never encountered the term maya in any Buddhist text. But then, I'm a Hindu, not a Buddhist scholar.

The Jingde Record of the Transmission of the Lamp and the Denkoroku both contain a story of Mara's conversion to Buddhism under the auspices of the monk Upagupta. According to the story, Upagupta journeyed to the kingdom of Mathura and preached the Dharma with great success. So, from a Hindu perspective, maya is essentially ignorance. In Theravada Buddhism , the current expression of Buddhism most closely. Ornately decorated elephants are a major attraction in Sri Lankan Buddhist ceremonies. The annual street pageant – or Perahera – sees dancers and parade through the streets to music. His father was King Suddhodana and his mother was Queen Maya.

Where there is duality, the sense of separation, there is maya. In Buddhism the concept led to the notion of emptiness of things and in Hinduism to the notion of Brahman as the only absolute and eternal reality that exists beyond all names and forms. When our minds and senses are active, we remain under the influence of Maya. When we perceive things in a state of duality, we remain in the domain of Maya.

Om man som icke- buddhist skulle vilja bli buddhist så är det ganska okomplicerat och det är ett beslut man tar själv. Det finns ingen test som man måste genomgå eller någon som kontrollerar om man duger som buddhist. För de flesta människor är det något som växer fram gradvis efter kontakt med buddhismens meditationsmetoder och lära.
